Search for a new car

So the old Ford 150 truck just died. Not all the cylinders were firing properly and instead of putting more money into the truck, its time to let it go. The truck was good purchase though, we bought it for 3k, which was the best buy I could find in the area. It had some unknown mileage on it, no air conditioning, but I was able to haul a lot of gravel. The joke I had with the kids was “Turn on the A/C on your side”, which meant for them to use the old school rolling window handles to open the windows for air.

Going to miss having a truck I can do anything with, but time will come when we get another truck and for now I’m on the look out for a new car. Well, not new perse, I’m going to get a used car my oldest can use now and I can share when I need a car to go about town. My son just turned 16 and we are in the process of trying to figure out a car for him that won’t kill our insurance.

Pretty nutty time for us related to cars and trucks. Out with the old truck, in with the new old car eventually. The hunt is is now on. The contenders for cars are the following: * 2005-2010 Honda Accord or Civic * Nissan Maxima * Toyota something maybe a Rav4 * Ford focus, possibly

The rough budget is to keep it around 4-6k, so we don’t incur any more debt then we have to. Also, if the car is completely paid for, it should help with the insurance cost since we’d just do liability and hope for the best.
